General Assembly
June 22nd - 26th 2005  –  Charlesbourg, Québec, Canada.
“Sharing the Fire Within!”

Bishop Pierre-André Fournier, auxiliary bishop in Quebec City, gave start to the Pius X Secular Institute’s General Assembly. Delegates from Canada, the United States, Haiti and Colombia were present for this event. Bishop Fournier captivated the delegates by inviting them to a renewed commitment so as to better fulfill the mission of evangelization in the Church and in the world.

Then, Father Guylain Prince, a Franciscan priest and member of La Grande Mission in the diocese of Joliette (Quebec), summoned the 34 delegates by recalling the urgency and the audacity of real commitments to evangelize.

Before debating the propositions that would give the orientations and lines of apostolic action for the next five years, the delegates received with joy and gratitude the report of activities realized during the last mandate. With a truly appreciated visual presentation, the delegates could see some of the means used during the course of the past years so that each member could “share the fire within”.

The resolutions adopted during the General Assembly united the delegates; these resolutions reaffirm that efforts ever more sustained be made so as to answer the urgencies of a new evangelization while having a special option for the youth and the family.

In a spirit of brotherly joy, the delegates returned to their respective regions to share on a daily basis with men and women, young and old, and thus make Jesus Christ better known, better loved and better served. The next five years are therefore promising in apostolic initiatives!
